- Netizens were outraged when photos of a little girl biting a deer’s heart went viral on social media
- Johnny, the father of the little girl Chloe, posted the photos in a hunting community and was overwhelmed by the criticisms of many netizens
- Despite this, he said that biting the heart of the first kill is an old hunting ritual and they will continue doing what they love
A New Zealand hunter received criticisms after he posted the photos of his 8-year old daughter to a hunting community Facebook page in which she was seen eating the heart of her first kill which was a young stag.
In the post, Johnny, the hunter dad, said that he was proud of his daughter Chloe after she successfully shot and killed a young stag last weekend using his shoulder as a leaning rest for the gun.
“Hey you hunter chicks. I’m a proud Dad. Check out my little pink ninja princess Chloe (8) with her first deer a young stag. Shot in bush block on a friend’s farm last weekend. She made tricky downhill shot using my shoulder as a leaning rest and shot with dad’s 7mm-08 at about 40 m. then she took a bite from its warm and quivering heart. Go Chloe!” wrote Johnny.
Upon posting the story on the New Zealand Woman Hunters page, it has been shared by 20,000 users and the comments section was filled with people criticizing Johnny’s parenting style.
One of the netizens said, “Sounds like a psychopath to me, no normal kid wants to do something like that to that degree. It was either forced or she truly does have some deep problems. Hunting is one thing, mutilating is another.”
“Eating a raw creature’s heart after you kill it. Sound a touch evil. Not to mention disgusting and disease ridded. Any sane person would realize that there is nothing okay about this,” said another.
On the other hand, there are still netizens who defended Johnny and her daughter by saying that the photos clearly show that Cloe was not forced at all in eating the deer’s heart because she was all smiles.
“Wow all you judgmental people! I’m sure all the McDonald’s and processed foods you feed your children are worse than one bite of a heart! Out there learning to live of the land is a far better choice than all the technology so many kids are sitting there using! I’m sure this beautiful young girl could give you a few lessons in the true meaning of life!” said one netizen who supported the little huntress.
Johnny said that biting the heart of your first kills I an old hunting tradition.
“Chloe and I love our adventures together. Chloe has been coming hunting with me since she was eight months old on a front pack. This was her first deer. She has a great shot, and been target shooting,” said Johnny.
Despite the negative reactions, Johnny said that he is not bothered by them and that he and Chloe will continue doing what they love. -Kami Media
