- Actress Ai-Ai delas Alas expressed her support and approval of President Duterte’s anti-drug campaign
- The actress pointed out how drug users destroy the lives of many drug users and slammed the Senate inquiry witnesses for acting as if their loved ones were the real victims
- Ai-Ai also spoke about the condition of former child star Jiro Manio, who later became a drug user
According to veteran actress Ai-Ai delas Alas, President Rodrigo Duterte’s aggressive war against illegal drugs has been successful so far. The comedian also spoke about her fondness of the President.
“Nagagalingan ako sa kanya, natutuwa ako sa kanya. Kasi yung mga ipinangako niya, tinutupad naman niya, e… Linisin ang droga, linisin ang Pilipinas, gumanda ang Pilipinas, maging maayos tayong lahat,” Ai-Ai said during the “Sunday Pinasaya” first anniversary press conference on Wednesday night.
As for the alleged spate of extrajudicial killings of drug criminals since Duterte assumed office, Ai-Ai seemed to have implied that drug pushers deserve punishment but did not elaborate further on what kind of punishment they deserve.
“Kasi siyempre, para sa akin, opinyon ko lang ‘to, kung ano ang ginagawa ni Duterte, yun yung way niya para dito sa atin… Kasi alam ko talaga ang mga tao na nagbenta dun sa mga nagdodroga, wala naman talaga sa tamang pag-iisip,” Ai-Ai said.
(Of course, in my opinion, Duterte has a way of doing things for the good of the people… Because I really know that the pushers who sell drugs to users are not in the right state of mind.)

Ai-Ai recently posted on Instagram her negative feelings towards the witnesses presented by Senator Leila de Lima during the Senate inquiry on summary killings. According to the actress, the witnesses should not act as if their killed loved ones were the victims since they were pushing drugs.
The actress also talked about Jiro Manio, a former child actor she worked with before who later became addicted to drugs. Manio was able to finish rehab but went back in just a few weeks later.
“So, siguro naiintindihan niyo ako kung bakit ako pabor, kasi alam ko kung ano ang resulta ng mga taong nalulong sa droga,” the comedian explained.
(So maybe, you can understand why I favor Duterte’s methods because I know how drugs affect people.)
