A sidecar driver was already conceding but why would the police still pointed guns at him and shot the suspect multiple times?
Eric Sison was killed by Pasay police on Tuesday, August 23 during a buy-bust operation. The report says the man asked for mercy and was about to surrender but the authorities were unstoppable and gunned him down. The cops, on the other hand, explained that the suspect was armed, has shown resistance and even fired at them, too.
The incident was captured in a video by a concerned citizen. The civilian who took the footage requested not to be named for his own safety. The following scene was recorded.
"Police: Wala nang tao dito ha! (No one is here!)
Police: Dulo. Dulo. (At the end, at the end.)
Police: Bibilangan kita ng tatlo pag hindi ka lumabas diyan puputukan kita. (I will count from 1-3 if you don’t show up I’ll shoot you.)
Police: Saan? Saan? Saan? (Where? Where? Where?)
Police: Dulo ilalim. (At the end below)
Police: May tama na yan. Lalabas ‘yan. (He already got wounded. He’ll definitely come out.)
Police: Yan may dugo oh, may dugo. (Look there’s blood.)
Woman: Kuya wag naman! (Please, no!)
Police: Huwag kayong makialam! (Don’t interfere!)
Pedicab Driver: Ito po! Ito po! Susuko na ako! (Here, here, I am turning myself in!)
It was not yet clear to where the first gun shot came from. The footage did not also capture who made the continuous firing. But a voice of a man pleading can be heard.
Netizens have divided views on the incident.
One Facebook user said the cops abused their power.
“Hindi na tama ang ginagawa ng mga pulis maski walang kalaban laban papatayin nila at sasabihin nilang nanlaban at may hawak na baril sa bawat araw nalang ba na baluktot nilang paliwanag eh may maniniwala pa sa kanila ..ang tawag jan pangaabuso sa krapatan.”
(Our police are not doing the right thing anymore. They would kill even the helpless and they would claim the person fought, that the person held a gun. With their twisted explanations, do they think people would still believe them? What they are doing is an abuse on human rights.
Another said the suspect did not actually surrender.
Nah Cora Tan:
“Hindi nman nagmakaawa yun eh! tingnan nio mabuti ang video.. in fact may baril pa yang driver na yan at di lang basta driver yan tulak ng shabu at marijuana yan!”
(He did not beg! Look closely to the video. In fact, the driver even carried a gun and he’s not just an ordinary driver, he’s a drug pusher!)
Whereas netizen Leo Erio Tabada said the “Change” that came seems wrong.
“Kakaiba na talaga nagyayari sa mundo ngayon. Change is coming na nga. At parang d na tama to.”
(What is happening in the world now is strange. Change has come indeed. And it doesn’t seem right.)
