Filipino hunk from Laguna wins "Man of the Year" in Indonesia

Last Saturday, August 20, Karan Singhdole bagged the title “Man of the Year” at the male pageant held at Grand Central Hotel in Indonesia.

Singhdole became the first “Man of the Year” and has beaten four other candidates from different countries. The other candidates are Tarek Moaykel (1 runner-up from Lebanon), Tim Bertrams (2 runner-up from Netherlands), Trịnh Xuân Nhản (3 runner-up from Vietnam), and Meirizal Rifa'I (4 runner-up from Indonesia).

His wardrobe for the pageant was all made by Filipino designers such as Olan Roque for his swimwear, Edwin Uy for his national costume, and Francis Libiran for his formalwear.

He is 23-years-old from Sta. Rosa Laguna. Despite being a full-blooded Indian as his parents were Indian immigrants, Singhdole is a true Filipino in his heart. He was even a finalist in GMA 7’s “You’re My Foreignoy.”

The Filipino hunk stands at 6’2” and can speak up to five languages such as Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, English, and of course Filipino.

He was a third-year student at STI taking up Hotel and Restaurant management before he had to stop going to school. Singhdole’s father has cancer and he’s taking care of him by doing modeling.

Despite his struggles, he was able to win over the hearts of his supporters, and eventually bagged his first International win with his hardwork and determination.

He thanked his family and supporters in a Facebook post last August 22: “Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs, the one who accepts you for who you are, the one who would do anything to see you smile and love you no matter what. Thank you, Philippines, this is for you. I love you all.

Singhdole also posted a video saying his “heartfelt” thanks to everyone who supported him. Watch him speak him perfect Filipino as he holds his award and a small Filipino flag:
