HIGHLIGHT: The balikbayan box of Roel Pacquiao, the younger brother Manny Pacquaio, was picked up by a person who cannot be identified from the CCTV footage of NAIA Terminal 1.
The younger Pacquiao was part of the champ's entourage that arrived at the airport at 5 a.m. from Los Angeles, California via Philippine Airlines flight PR 103.
Upon arrival, Roel checked on his LBC balikbayan box at the baggage claim area, only to find out later on that it has been picked up by another person.
Through the help of NAIA police Aviation Security Group (AvSeGroup), the brother of Manny reviewed the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage and saw a person took his box full of rubber shoes, cameras, iPhones and watches.
Unfortunately, the blurry image on CCTV makes the person unidentifiable.
The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has earlier said that it has intensified campaign against baggage pilferage through “Oplan Dukot Bagahe” launched last year.
General Manager Jose Angel Honrado advised passengers, “As much as possible let us avoid putting valuable items in our luggage. If it cannot be avoided, do not put them in front pockets and pouches where they can be easily identified by simply feeling them. They become tempting to certain people,” Honrado said.
