Presidential aspirant Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said he would even literally lock the Congress if lawmakers remained corrupt.
Duterte, known for promising a safer country in 6 months, has yet again assured the public that he would stop another social ill - corruption.
In a campaign rally in Laguna last April 15, Duterte said that he would stop corruption in Congress at any cost, but without declaring another Martial Law.
Often criticized for his tendency to use violence as a solution, he reiterated that he would not need to declare Martial Law.
He said: “Bakit ako mag-Martial Law? Simple: sarahan ko lang 'yung gate ng Congress. I-lock ko lang. Wala na kayong (lawmakers) opisina."
(Why would I impose Martial Law? Simple: I'd close the gates of Congress. I'd lock them. Those lawmakers wouldn't have any office anymore.)
The Davao City Mayor has lately been receiving flak for giving big promises without any detailed explanations on feasibility. However, a Rappler report said that the Mayor has finally shed some light on the specifics.
To meet his self-imposed deadline, he intends to do the following:
