After being comatose, the Filipina domestic helper passed away after she was allegedly abused and raped by her own employer in Saudi Arabia.
According to Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestro Bello III, the Pinay OFW identified as Irma Avila Edloy, 35, died at the King Salman Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia due to severe injuries caused by the horrible sexual abuse she experienced.
“The latest news is she passed away. When I visited her at the hospital, she did not look good. I even raised my voice to the attending nurses because based on what I saw she was not taken well of. She was attached to a respirator and the bandage on her lips was not clean,” said Bello during an interview in Jeddah.
He also stated that Edloy did not respond to him when he introduced himself and asked her to move her fingers.
Based on the medical reports of Edloy, it was shown that she had lacerations in her private parts and multiple bruises on her face and body. The nurse who was assigned to take care of Edloy said that she dies at 11:45 in the evening last August 18.
Moreover, it was narrated by one of the nurses of Edloy that her employer, who was tensed and afraid upon seeing her employee, went to the hospital. When asked if she was abused, Edloy pointer to the employer who immediately left the hospital.
“Before she went unconscious, the nurse told me that the employer went there which elicited a reaction from Irma. The employer allegedly appeared tense and left. And when the nurse asked her if she was maltreated, she pointed to her employer. She cannot speak, she just pointed,” Bello reported.
Bello pointed out the possibility that Edloy was gang raped because of the extent of the injuries and lacerations she had.
The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) was already orded by DOLE to arrange the repatriation of the remains of the Filipina. Also, the agency that recruited Edloy will be suspended from its operations. – Kami Media
