The National Democratic Front (NDF) consultants Benito and Wilma Tiamzon walk free from detention at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center after posting bail on Friday, August 19.
The Tiamzon couple walked out of Camp Crame smiling as they raise their clenched fists in acknowledgment of the militant protesters who welcomed them outside Camp Crame.
After their medical checkup at the police camp, Wilma, who was holding a red rose, together with her husband, Benito Tiamzon, walked to their freedom at around 11 a.m.
As Benito Tiamzon address the protesters and the media, he expressed his gratitude towards President Rodrigo Duterte for their release. He also thanked the President for bringing back the peace talks, which, according to Benito, will discuss the comprehensive reforms in the society, economy, and politics, and may end the armed conflict.

He said, “Kami ay nagpapasalamat kay President Rodrigo Duterte sa pagpapalaya sa amin at sa pagbubukas muli ng usapang pangkapayapaan para pagusapan ang mga malalimang reporma sa lipunan, sa ekonomiya, at sa pulitika na kinakailangan para bigyang wakas ang armadong labanan."
(We thank President Rodrigo Duterte for freeing us and reopening the peace talks to give way to a discussion of comprehensive reform for the society, economy, and politics which are needed to end the armed struggle.)
The NDFP consultants also had a press conference held after their release.
During the press conference, Benito Tiamzon said that their release is a goodwill measure of the Duterte administration which, according to him would make a good starting environment for the peace talks with the NDFP.

"Sa kabuuan, kami ay malaki ang tiwala na susulong at makakamit ang mga pagkakasundong pangkapayapaan para makamit ang mga repormang panlipunan. Alam namin na maraming hamon, sagka na kailangang igpawan para magtagumpay ng lubos ang usapang pangkapayapaan," he added.
(Overall, we trust that the peace agreements will push through to achieve social reform. We are aware that we will need to overcome many challenges and obstacles for the full success of the peace talks.)
His wife, Wilma Tiamzon, salutes the affiliate organization of the NDF - the CPP and NPA, and expressed her gratitude to Duterte for re-opening the peace talks in accordance with the principles of national sovereignty, social justice, and democracy. She also promised the other political prisoners that they will continue doing everything they could for their immediate release.
She also called on to the patrons of Pokemon Go, to take part in what she called, Monster Go, saying that there are real monsters out in the society.
