Deadpool 2 in the works
CONFIRMED. Ryan Reynolds has confirmed that Deadpool 2 has hit the green light (pun intended) and he will reprise the role as the legendary Merc with a Mouth in a sequel that will follow the hit Deadpool that showed last February.
The R-rated superhero film sequel was confirmed at CinemaCon 2016 last Thursday, April 14, by 20th Century Fox. This is because of the hugely successful Deadpool film that showed originally.
The original Deadpool started with a budget of $58M, and it successfully showed in cinemas around the world grossing to around $760M globally, making it a huge success. The premiere alone netted the film around $132M just in the US.
The film received extremely positive reviews for its over-the-edge scripting and staying true to the original persona of Deadpool, a Merc that's unpredictable as hell and with a mouth that'll leave you laughing.
According to 20th Century Fox co-chairman Stacey Snider, and as reported by the USA Today: "We have really exciting news to share: The entire creative team, including director Tim Miller and producer Ryan Reynolds, are hard at work on a Deadpool sequel", even going as far as calling the film a "paradigm shifter".
However, no official release date for the film has been revealed. If you were able to watch the credits of Deadpool, as in all Marvel films, there is a hint that another Marvel superhero, Cable, will also be part of the Deadpool sequel. Stay tuned for updates on the Merc with a Mouth.
