– 45-year-old Chinese man had to apply for certificate to show he had no criminal conviction, but had been turned away by police
– They told him that he was convinced in 2006 and then executed
– Fact is, that this was the other man, with the same identifications and name
The 45-year-old applied for a certificate to show he had no criminal convictions for his new job. Unfortunately, police turned him away after their records showed that back in 2006 he was convicted for kidnapping, and then executed.
Guangdong Radio and Television Network reported that a man with the same name and identity number was in fact executed, but it wasn't this Mr Chen.
That’s what Mr. Chen told Guangdong Radio and Television Network: "I was even allowed to apply for a travel permit to Hong Kong and Macau from the government. All these things are just puzzling."
Later, police recognized the mistake and gave Mr. Chen his certificate.
The incident is a case of 'repeat identity', in which Chinese citizens somehow end up with the same identity numbers.
