- Reshma Banoo Qureshi, an Indian girl, was a victim of an acid attack at 19 years of age
- She began a campaign called 'Make Love Not Scars' that helps survivors of acid attacks
- Reshma has been invited by a New York based fashion agency to walk the catwalk in a movement called #Takebeautyback
When Reshma Banoo Qureshi was 19 she was attacked by her brother-in-law. He sprayed her face with concentrated acid which melted the poor girl’s face, including her eye and leaving her face with terrible burn scars.
Since then Reshma has begun a campaign called ‘Make Love Not Scars,’ currenty the most recognized entity for survivors of acid attacks. Many women who are the victims of acid attacks become prisoners of their scars. In addition, the governments of countries where acid attacks on women are prevalent take little to no action in these cases.
And now a fashion company from New York called FTL Moda, in conjunction with Global Disability Inclusion, want Reshma to walk the catwalk with other diverse models in a movement called #TakeBeautyBack
The following is a video of Reshma’s reaction when she heard the happy news.
