Scientists have come up with an amazing idea. They say the research proves – reading books helps people to live longer.
The study involved over 3500 people. The study was begun in 1992 and lasts till this day, as it is a long term project. All these participants were divided into three groups. The first one did not read any books. The second one read moderately, and the last one did much reading.
The results were surprising. For one, it showed that those who love to read the most are prevalently women with income and level of education. Reading much reduced the risks of dying by 17 percent compared to those who read moderately.
At the same time, those who read some reduced the chances of dying young by 23 percent over those who did not read at all. Moreover, readers live 2 years longer than those, who do not fancy books. Here is what the researcher says:
"People who report as little as a half-hour a day of book reading had a significant survival advantage over those who did not read.”
