Tuesday meditation in the storm

Tuesday meditation in the storm

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” - John 16:33

Just as the torrential rain that pours and steals our opportunities to be out and about, the world, and even our own minds, want to steal our peace. As we talk to God today, let us practice how to be still and meditate as we invite the universe's blessing during our journey in this busy and demanding world.

Lord, as we start this day, we thank you that the darkness of night is over.

Thank you for the new day that brings new hope, new light, and new opportunities.

As we lay our lives before you, we hope that you would accept our humble offer of thanks,

for always being there, even when even when we are not;

for every little thing, o Lord, we take this time to stop and say

Thank you, Father, for every blessing every day.

Forgive us, Lord, for turning away from you and trying to control the outcome of situations in our lives.

Help us, and fill us with your peaceful presence.

Silence the niggling thoughts of confusion, anxiety, grief, and despair.

Grant that we may get rid of all thoughts of hurt and anger.

With each breath, Lord, we pray that we may be a blessing to all we come in contact with.

That we may share Your peace that surpasses all understanding and glorify Your name.

Bless our nation, dear Father

Help us surrender our unrest to you so that we may receive peace.

Guide our leaders, that they may be sparks that ignite peace in others.

Fill us all with Your love and comfort us from the harshest storms that we may encounter.

Grant that we may always look forward to your promises

that You will never change even as we pray for changes in our community torn by storms.

Help us to be still and know that You are God

Help us remember that You will take care of us, as we hope our leaders would, in the most peaceful of ways

just like any loving parent takes care of their children when it rains.

Help us remember that Your Word says to cast all of our anxiety on You because you care for us.

Make us brave to walk in the storm and surrender all of our burdens and concerns over to You.

Please guide our nation's every step and help us to be attentive to Your loving direction.

Amen.
