It’s confirmed. Self-confessed gay woman Aiza Seguerra will head the National Youth Commission (NYC), the agency tasked to oversee the welfare of the Filipino youth.
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Cariza "Aiza" Yamson Seguerra, as the new chairperson of NYC, a post previously occupied by actor, Jose Sixto “Dingdong” Gonzalez Dantes III.

Through the Twitter page of PTV4, the official state-owned television, a tweet was made announcing the appointment of Seguerra.
Whether the appointment was accepted by Seguerra or not was not yet confirmed. No word was heard from Seguerra’s camp.
Seguerra and her partner, Liza Dino, have both been staunch supporters of Duterte. From the start of his campaign, Seguerra has been an avid supporter. Perhaps now, the President is merely returning the favor.
Reports have it that after the election, the President sat down with Seguerra and her partner and sought their help in enhancing the arts and culture of the Philippines.
Duterte has already appointed several showbiz personalities to various positions. Freddie Aguilar has been appointed as the commissioner of the National Commission for Culture and Arts.
Another showbiz personality who is no occupying a juice government position is comedian Arnell Ignacio. He is now the AVP of PAGCOR’s Community Relation and Services Department.
Jimmy Bondoc was slated to become AVP for Entertainment of PAGCOR but this was not made official. According to Bondoc, he is still waiting for a position that Duterte will be giving him in PTV4.
