- The assailant then introduced herself to be the wife of a ‘colonel’ when airport police attempted to escort her to authorities
Cebu Pacific flight attendant Madel Ty has decided to file charges against the passenger who slapped her aboard a flight to Davao City on July 30.
The irate traveller, who was identified as Maria Vicenta Tello from Cotabato City, was charged with slander by deed and slight physical injury at the Davao City’s Prosecutor’s Office.
In a report by Philippine Star, it was revealed that the assailant is the wife of Senior Superintendent Agustin Juan Tello, the chief of the police logistics and research division in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) – whom she name dropped when she refused to be escorted by the airport police following the incident.
In support to their crew’s current predicament, the airline has issued an official statement. According to the CEB’s Blacklist Committee, they have banned Tello from boarding any flights until further notice. The company will also provide the necessary compensation to Ty.
Per the complainant’s affidavit, Tello was politely instructed by Grace Fatima Magtibay, another flight attendant, to place her bag in the overhead bin since it was too large to be accommodated inflight.
However, Tello refused and cursed at Magtibay instead – reasoning that she was already wearing her seatbelt.

“You ask us to wear our seatbelts but you tell us to put our bags down. Your job is to assist passengers. Go******t! So rude!” Tello exclaimed.
Magtibay then informed Ty, who was the cabin crew leader that time, of the situation.
In the end, it was her who safely tucked the bag in the bin while apologizing to Tello, who insisted on remaining seated. She also offered to hand a feedback form to the passenger who was repeatedly making ‘rude’ remarks.
Reports said that Tello waited for the rest of the passengers to alight the plane before slapping Ty. Another cabin crew member claimed that Tello said she was intending to slap Magtibay as well.
Ty’s photos which showed red marks on the side of her face and neck after being assaulted by Tello have become viral.
