Singer-actor Ogie Alcasid still remains to have an unclear path to take after his birthday concert ‘Ayokong Tumanda’ at the Music Museum on August 26 and 27.
The artist confessed that his contract with his current network, TV-5, will soon expire in a couple of days and he has yet to discuss his next steps with his manager.
Although Alcasid was honest to admit that work was minimal on the channel as the management could not provide more shows for him, he expressed his gratitude that he was being given the freedom to make appearances on different networks.
It was only recently when the songwriter performed on ‘ASAP’ as the Sunday variety program made a tribute to composer Ryan Cayabyab.
His rare guesting prompted fans to flood him with praise, and informed him that he suited well on the show. Alcasid referred to the comments as ‘flattering’ and ‘heartwarming.’ Aside from enjoying his short gig, he also tipped his hat off to the staff of the show for always coming up with a remarkable production number.
“Iba talaga sila gumawa ng production number. I have to give it to ABS-CBN,” he said.
Alcasid further shared that during his last trip to New York to promote TV-5, he noted how tickets for ASAP were already sold out with still 2 weeks left before the event. Moreover, he acknowledged how appreciative and receptive the audience was as they already appeared to be ‘excited.’
However, when asked whether he can see himself being a mainstay on the program in the near future, Alcasid replied with a vague “anything is possible.”
He opened up about how he, along with the management of TV-5, was not able to accomplish the goals they have set. Alcasid was hopeful that they would still come up with a way to work it out, but was also welcome to change.
“I don’t want to base my position on anything else but where am I needed most at this point,” Alcasid added.
For now, the performer intended to focus on his upcoming concert and would think things through afterwards.
Aside from being a famous singer, Ogie Alcasid was also known for being a comedian especially for the various characters he portrayed on GMA-7’s ‘Bubble Gang.’ He has a three-year contract with TV-5 which will soon expire on August 18.
