- Junjun Binay was charged with graft, malversation and falsification of public documents
- He filed a motion to travel to allow him to accompany his daughter to the U.S. in seeking second opinion for her rare skin disease
- The Sandiganbayan granted him a 9-day travel to Los Angeles, California
The Third Division of the Sandiganbayan has granted Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" S. Binay’s motion to bring his daughter to the US to see an immunologist. Binay is seeking a second opinion for his daughter’s rare and uncommon skin disease.
In a resolution, the court favorably resolved Binay’s motion, granting the latter a 9-day period to go to the US for the said checkup. He was given a limited permission to travel to Los Angeles, California. He is set to leave on August 15 but he must be back on August 24.
Binay would be bringing his 6-year-old daughter to Dr. Ricardo Tan, a known allergologist and immunologist. His daughter was diagnosed with staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome, which according to Binay, is a very rare disease.
The court has set certain restrictions on Binay’s permission to travel. He is not allowed to go anywhere else, but must only confine himself to Los Angeles, California, where the doctor is said to have his clinic.
Records show that Dr. Ricardo Tan is a part of the California Allergy and Asthma Medical Group, Inc., with address at 11645 Wilshire Boulevard, Suite 1155, Los Angeles. Suffice to say, Binay and his daughter would be somewhere in this area between August 15 and August 24.
If Binay would not comply with the restrictions, the Court will be ordering the forfeiture of his bail and travel bond which was at around P680,000. A warrant of arrest will be issued as well.
Binay was charged with malversation, graft, and falsification of public documents. He was charged in connection with his involvement in the allegedly overpriced City Hall building of Makati. – SD, Kami Media
