HIGHLIGHT: No presidential and vice presidential candidates are serious about fostering the rights of the LGBT and women, say advocacy groups.
During the last Vice Presidential debate, not one candidate supported same sex marriage. While, the two rounds of presidential debates did not tell clearly what the aspirants would do to foster LGBT rights.
In an ABS CBN report, the higher members of LGBT further instill to its members or anyone who is homosexual in nature to not accept any forms of abuse.
Meanwhile, Gert Libang, vice president of Gabriela reiterates that not one 2016 presidential candidate has been in favor of divorce in the Philippines even though a 2014 SWS (Social Weather Stations) survey shows that 6 out of 10 Filipinos support divorce.
Between the year 2011 and 2014, Law RA 9262 or the Anti-violence Against Women And Their Children Act has raised by 300%, and based on police reports, rape has increased by 92%.
Shockingly, inspite the fact that more than half of the voters in the Philippines are women, the increase of percent in violence against women continuously rises.
Many believe that divorce can be looked upon a positive light for those women who are trapped in marriages with abusive husbands.
