Pokemon GO PH release soon; Smart gives free access

Pinoy gamers are anticipating the release of Pokemon GO in the country and Smart and TNT subscribers can enjoy seven 7 days of free data access to the game upon its launch.

In a press release from Smart Communications stated that Smart and TNT subscribers using iOS and Android devices can enjoy free data access to Pokemon GO upon accessing the game and start playing without data charges for 7 days.

It seems that the Philippines is ready for the popular augmented reality game. Globe Switch users will also get free access to Pokemon GO app for seven days. Globe Switch is an app that the telco released to help users monitor their internet usage. It also showcases deals and discounts, as well as allows users build their own mobile internet package depending on their needs.

PayMaya, on the other hand, will support players in in-app game purchases. Players only have to download the PayMaya app on the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, load up their accounts with at least P60 to cover the standard app store verification fee, and link their virtual VISA card to their app store accounts to be able to make in-app purchases for Pokecoins, the in-app currency used inside the Pokemon GO game.

Meanwhile, game developer Niantic Labs has not revealed the official release date of Pokemon GO. Previous rumors claimed that the game will arrive at Philippine shores on Aug. 2. However, the game is still not found in iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

According to reports, the delay is due to a change in the server for Southeast Asian countries in order to accommodate a large number of players. It is expected that Pokemon GO will be a big hit in the Philippines.
