Reggae lovers are in for a weekend treat as Big Mountain and Grammy-winner Inner Circle are set to headline the first International Reggae Festival on April 16 at SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds in Pasay. This event brought by DMC Philippines and SM Mall of Asia.
Inner Circle, dubbed as the “Bad Boys of Reggae” hail from Jamaica, reggae’s place of birth, was formed in 1968. They scored a major hit in 1987 with the song "Bad Boys," a theme song for Fox Network’s reality legal series “COPS.”
Big Mountain, the American reggae/pop band became well-known for their reggae covers, most notably Peter Frampton’s “Baby, I Love Your Way.” It was announced in a press con a few months ago that the band has recorded a version of Tropical Depression’s “Kapayapaan.”
Fifteen acts will also give concert-goers the ultimate chill-out vibe that only reggae could bring. The performers include Brownman Revival, Reggae Mistress, I-Dren Artstrong, Coconut Head, Collie Herb, Indio-I, Papa U Gee (Japan), Coffeebreak Island with Skarlet, Chocolate Factory, Martin Buchanan (Jamaica), Bahaghari, DJ Kimosave, The Blanc, and Tropical Depression.
The festival also features tattoo parlors and body painting areas, car shows, parties, and skateboarding areas . Tickets are priced at PHP800 (Gold Pass) and PHP2,000 (VIP).
