The village of this man was hit with floods and he had to make a split-second decision to save his mother or stay with his wife and kids.
Gao Fengshou, 39, from Daxian in Xingtai City had to swiftly go to his mother’s place, to the other side of town where the water was already waist deep.
Leaving his wife and children with his father he rushed to the aid of his old mother. He was just in time to save her, but the rising water level meant he wasn’t able to return to his family.
After the flood receded he found his wife, two kids and father on the roof of their home. However, his wife of five years, Zhang, felt that leaving his family at such a dire hour was a sign of betrayal and left him.
She has returned to her parents in East China. Gao has followed her to beg for forgiveness. Let’s wish him the best of luck!
The freak floods that have hit China’s Hebei Province have killed 130 people and left 110 missing.
