— He received a heart from the girl, who was killed in Florida by a drunk driver
— Girl's father was touched when he heard his daughter's heart beating once again
This father, Shawn Zimmerman, put on a stethoscope and heard, once again, Katelyn's heart beating in the chest of a bright 14-year-old boy, Alj Jefferies. You will understand, why it's even more touching, knowing this fact: this father-of-three also lost his son Dylan.
'It put us at peace knowing that Katelyn's heart is still beating, even though it's not in her,' Shawn Zimmerman told Alj's family in a touching moment at a North Carolina hospital when the families met for the first time.
Katelyn, Shawn's daughter, was killed March 9 while riding a bike with younger brother Dylan near her home. They were hit by a drunk driver. She died the same day.
Dylan was hospitalized in critical condition and underwent four surgeries during the following month. Unfortunately, he did not survive.
