According to the latest Pulse Asia Survey, six senatorial candidates who were endorsed by President Benigno “Noy-noy” Aquino Jr. under the Liberal Party (LP) made it to the magic 12.
The LP candidats are Senate President Franklin Drilon (1st-2nd), former Senator Francis Pangilinan (3rd-4th), former Justice Secretary Leila de Lima (5th-9th), Senator Ralph Recto (6th-12th), former Director General of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Emmanuel Villanueva (7th-12th), and former Akbayan party-list Representative Risa Hontiveros (7th-12th).
Drilon is statistically tied with Senator Vicente Sotto III, who is under the ticket of Senator Grace Poe, for the number one spot.
The survey shows that 49.4% of votes went to Sotto while Drilon got 48.9%.
Former Senator Panfilo Lacson (3rd-4th), former Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri (5th-6th), Senator Sergio Osmeña III (6th-12th), Congressman Manny Pacquiao (6th-12th), and former Senator Richard Gordon (7th-12th) also made it to the top 12.
Those who have a “statistical chance” of being included in the twelve senatorial seats are Valenzuela Representative Sherwin Gatchalian (27.5%), former Chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Francis Tolentino (25.4%), and Senator and Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers & Investigations (Blue Ribbon) Teofisto “TG” Guingona (24.9%).
With less than six weeks to go before the May 2016 elections, registered voters are identifying seven out twelve of their favored candidates for senator. A third (34%) of 4,000 respondents stated they already have named 12 of their preferred candidates. Only 6.5% of registered voters do not support any senatorial candidate.
The survey of 4,000 respondents was commissioned by ABS-CBN. It ran from March 29 to April 3.
