President Rodrigo flew to Davao City for a meeting with fifty congressmen from all over Mindanao to discuss important matters last Saturday night, July 23.
The said meeting was held at the “After Dark Piano Bar”, one of the videoke-restaurant-bars in Ecoland, which is the President’s favorite drinking place.
Hundreds of Davaoeño supporters of the President patiently waited outside the bar in high hopes of seeing their former mayor who served and brought peace to their city for almost 22 years.
It was worth the wait for the crowd when the President willingly gave them the opportunity to have pictures with him. Duterte also took the time to talk with them before going to his meeting with the other lawmakers.
The agenda of the meeting has not yet been confirmed by the Palace officials as of Sunday morning.
The President also had a meeting with the former President Fidel V. Ramos at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City before the gathering with the congressmen last Saturday.
Former President Ramos expressed his gratitude as he said that he accepted the offer to be the Philippine’s special envoy to China extended to him by the President. This is in connection with the recent victory of the Philippines when its claims were favored by the international court ruling which invalidated China’s territorial claims over the South China Sea.
Aside from his meeting with the congressmen and Ramos, Duterte also attended the funeral of his friend Judge Paul Arcangle from the Regional Trial Court (RTC) at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Parlor.
President Duterte will be having his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) this Monday and the whole Filipino crowd is looking forward to the plans, reforms, and change that the President vowed to do when he won the Presidency. -Kami Media
