Poe vows to work harder after slide in the surveys

Presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe commented on the latest pre-election survey results showing her slide to the second spot and being overtaken by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

In a campaign sortie in Surigao Del Norte on Tuesday, April 12, Senator Grace Poe vowed to work harder in the last stretch of the campaign.

In the latest Pulse Asia survey released on Tuesday (April 12), Poe was overtaken by Duterte with a five-percentage-point lead.  Poe’s numbers dropped to 25 %, a three percentage point decline from the previous survey, while Duterte saw a six-percentage-point increase, making him now the most preferred Presidential bet with 30% of the 4,000 nationwide respondents.

The results are similar in the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released Monday (April11). Poe is behind Duterte by four-percentage-points in the First Quarter 2016 Social Weather Survey. She is at second place with 23 percent, while Duterte claimed the top spot with 27 percent.

The recent surveys were conducted between March 30 and April 3, which saw the start of the campaign season for local candidates in the May elections, One Cebu party backing Duterte’s bid after the collapse of its alliance with Binay’s party, Poe’s confirmation that she met with a minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo, the bloody Kidapawan incident, and the power outage at the Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Poe seemed unfazed by the latest survey results and instead focused on studying what can still be improved in her campaign.
