HIGHLIGHT: The Primetime Queen has spoken about politics. New mom Marian Rivera-Dantes vouched for administration vice presidential bet CamSur Representative Leni Robredo.
It seemed not only netizens were impressed with Camarines Sur Third District Rep. Leni Robredo's performance in the recently-concluded vice presidential debate. GMA 7 Network's primetime queen Marian Rivera-Dantes finally made a political remark by praising and endorsing Robredo.
Marian, followed by 2.6 million on Instagram posted a photo with Robredo. ("In last night's debate, I was enlightened with the vice presidential candidates' individual beliefs. Because of that, I got more confident in my view to support Congresswoman Leni Robredo.")
Marian's husband and perennial leading man on TV, Dingdong Dantes, was former commissioner of the National Youth Commission under the administration of Pres. Aquino III. He resigned the post to endorse Independent Sen. Poe and Liberal Party Leni Robredo. Liberal party or (LP) is the political party of the administration.
Rivera said, she saw all the values and capacity to serve of Robredo and was not just swayed by anyone.
"Hindi lang dahil siya rin ang napili ng aking asawa, maging ng marami kong kaibigan at kakilala, kundi dahil kinakitaan ko siya ng sinseridad, integridad, kakayahang mamuno at maglingkod lalo na sa mga kababaihan at manggagawa na nasa laylayan ng lipunan. (Not only because my husband also chose her, along with my friends and acquaintances, but because I saw in her sincerity, intergroity, ability to lead and serve especially for my fellow women and workers who are on the margins of society.”)
On the Congresswoman's track record and character, “Matagal na siyang nasa public service bago pumasok sa politika at sa mga panahong ito ay hindi nabahiran ng katiwalian ang kanyang record at character kaya bilib ako sa kanya. ("She has long been in public service before entering politics, at this time, her character and record were never tainted with corruption that's why I believe in her.")
(While we differ in our opinions, I am sure we are all dreaming of a more progressive and a better Philippines. I think, one of the ways to realize this dream, is for us to elect the right people.")
Rivera-Dantes ended, "Sa mga wala pang napipiling susuportahan, magdasal at suriin pong mabuti ang bawat kandidato para makapag desisyon ng tama, ’May the best woman win,’ sabi nga niya. ("To those who have not decided whom to support, pray and be critical every candidate to be able to decide rightfully. As she (Leni) said, 'May the best woman win'.")
Maybe still unknown to many, Marian is currently House Ambassador for Women and Children with Disabilities after being appointed by the Congress.
