Rebecca Dabrowski was a high school senior in May 2015, when she says she was sexually assaulted by a male opponent during a water polo game.
A young schoolgirl Rebecca who played on the boy’s water polo team in high school speaks about the tragic incident. She was sexually assaulted by a male opponent during a match.
While video shows Rebecca Dabrowski screaming and tussling with the unnamed player in a recording of the match - and later crying at the pool's edge - police closed the case and no charges were ever brought against the alleged attacker.
Rebecca, now being a sophomore student at Monmouth College in Illinois, spoke out about this shocking and disturbing act in an interview with ESPN.
Two days after the assault, police in Buffalo Grove started an investigation into the incident.
“I was angry because I couldn't think anyone could do that,' Dabrowski said. 'He has a mom. He probably has a sister. ... How could he even try to do something like that?”
But after interviewing both Dabrowski and her alleged attacker, they closed the case without bringing up any charges. The male player allegedly told police during his interview that he did not recall touching Dabrowski inappropriately and that if he did - it was accidental.
