52-year-old Edward Tenniswood is accused of murdering doctor’s daughter India Chipchase by strangling her soon after taking her to his flat.
As a court reports the murderer approached the drunk girl, 20, outside a nightclub when she stepped out of taxi on her way home. It’s been said that he told her “don’t worry, I’ll get you home safe”, but instead he took a girl to his flat.
India was beaten, raped and throttled there, while her body was found under a sheet on a mattress. It’s said that India had been bravely fighting Tenniswood, but she died as a result of pressure to the neck. By the way, Tenniswood himself denies all the charges despite obvious evidence.
“Her death was no dreadful accident, because if it had been he would have called for an ambulance, he would have started CPR, asked for help,” – prosecutor Chris Donnellan said.
“There were lots of other women’s items generally distributed around the house. He was fully aware of what he was doing and put on a pair of plastic, vinyl gloves – they were later found in a bag of rubbish. Her blood was on the outside and his DNA was on the inside.”
Tenniswood denies rape and murder and claims India died during consensual sex. The trial, which is expected to last two weeks, continues.
