Even if you’ve only taken a passing interest in Pokemon Go, you’ll still know that if your wedding venue is a PokeGym, it’s not a good thing.
Elizabeth Corps discovered Woodlands Park Hotel in Cobham was also a battle gym on the game when she arrived there with groom Joe Whiddett on Friday. Needless to say, most guests with the game put all common decency aside and began to battle each other and catch creatures as the reception took place.
A blushing bride was left stunned when dozens of uninvited guests gatecrashed her perfect wedding and stole her spotlight. Elizabeth Corps dreamt of being the centre of attention on her big day but she was upstaged by rowdy Pokemon creatures. When she and groom Joe Whiddett arrived at the venue, they found it was marked as a battle gym on GPS mobile game Pokemon GO.
In one shot from wedding ceremony pokemon Bulbasaur watches the bride arriving at the reception, stepping out of the car in her bridal gown. In another image, a computer-generated 'Pidgey' takes a closer look at the wedding cake.
‘As soon as our car pulled up to the reception my brother informed my husband that there were two Bulbasaurs in the car park. A lot of Pokemon talk happened at the wedding and I was worried it would steal our thunder but actually it was pretty fun getting photo bombed by the odd Pokemon.’ Elizabeth told.
In fairness, to Elizabeth she refused to be upstaged and even found the whole thing amusing.
‘It was hard keeping my new husband off Pokemon Go and I don’t know if he’s caught them all yet but he’s definitely caught me.’ She told.
