Comedian extraordinaire, Jose Marie Borja Viceral, popularly known as Vice Ganda has added published author to his growing list of accomplishments.
The 40-year old TV host and actor said that his book, ‘President Vice: Ang Bagong Pangulo ng Pilipinas’ is a parody of how he would deal with problems in case he was elected the next president of the Philippines.
Vice Ganda said that the idea came to him at the height of election season.

“Nung eleksyon, kahit saan ka pumunta, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, ang daming nag-aaway-away. That time, I would make sure na fun lang 'yung ipo-post ko lang tapos nagtu-tweet ako ng #Pagbabago. Tapos kinakagat naman nila, so kinarir ko,” he explained.
(During elections, wherever you go, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, there were a lot of people fighting. That time, I would make sure that I’d only post funny things then I would tweet #Pagbabago. Fans liked it, so I pushed through with it.)
ABS-CBN Publishing quickly liked the idea of his compiled posts so they asked him to come up with more.

“Noong nasa Boracay ako, bago ako umuwi, sulat lang ako ng sulat. Nung na-compile ko 'yung mga sinulat ko tapos pinakita ko sa kanila, natuwa naman sila. Laugh trip lang ito,” he said.
(When I was at Boracay, before I went home, I just kept writing. When I finally compiled what I wrote and I showed it to them [ABS-CBN Publishing], they were delighted. This is just for laughs.)
Vice Ganda said that the book is really for comic relief and does not tackle serious topics.
“Gusto ko lang magpasaya. Kung tutuusin hindi naman ako kikita ng malaki dito sa libro. Gusto ko lang mag-spread ng good vibes lalo na sa panahon ng traffic, wala ka ng magawa, malibang ka lang sa mga ganitong sitwasyon,” he said.
(I just want to make people happy. If I really think about it, I wouldn’t earn a lot from the book. I simply want to spread some good vibes especially now that it’s traffic, [people] have nothing to do but to just amuse yourself in this situation.)
As for his detractors who say that he does not have the credibility to be considered an author, Vice Ganda said that, “Ay wala. [Oh, nothing.] They don't deserve my time. Sa mga followers and supporters na lang, [To my supporters and followers] I love you.”
‘President Vice: Ang Bagong Panggulo ng Pilipinas’ is available at National Book Store branches nationwide.
