Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is back in the Philippines to push for the campaign to hold the next Miss Universe pageant in the Philippines.
The Pinay beauty queen arrived in NAIA Terminal 2 from New York last Saturday, June 16, to meet with President Rodrigo Duterte and Department of Tourism secretary Wanda Teo. This news was according to a Facebook post of an airport reporter Raoul Esperas.
“Ms. Universe Pia Wurtzbach back in Manila for Meeting with President Duterte & Tourism Sec. Wanda Tulfo Teo,” the post read.
Meanwhile, on a Twitter post of Pia last Friday, she mentioned that there was something she was praying for. “Fingers crossed! Hoping for the best! Please, Lord!” the post said. She made this post a day before her flight to the Philippines.
Even Jonas Gaffud, Pia’s former pageant trainer, posted a photo on Instagram welcoming Pia.

ABS CBN’s TV Patrol reported that the Miss Universe Organization is eyeing possibility to hold the pageant on January 30, 2017, in Manila, but the said event can only push through by way of an executive order from the President.
This Thursday, July 14, Secretary Teo of the Department of Tourism confirmed President Duterte’s ‘approval in principle’ of the proposal to hold the Miss Universe 2017 pageant in the Philippines.
"The President agreed that sponsoring the event would be a tourism marketing coup with Philippines’ Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach at the helm," Teo said.

She made the announcement when she met with tourism leaders last week.
Tourism Undersecretary, Kat de Castro, confirmed that Teo already met with the executives of Miss Universe Organization.
