- A photo showing President Rodrigo Duterte and alleged drug lord Peter Lim together at a wedding event has gone viral
- Lim’s spokesperson said that Duterte and Lim are actually “kumpare”
- The spokesperson explained that Duterte was referring to a different Peter Lim when he revealed him as one of the biggest drug lords in the country
On July 7, President Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte publicly named Peter Lim as one of the biggest drug lords in the Philippines. A Cebuano businessman named Peter Lim was allegedly the one Duterte was referring to.
However, Lim’s spokesperson Dioscoro Fuentes Jr. said that his client and the President are actually “kumpare” and that Duterte was referring to a different Peter Lim.
He showed a picture of Duterte and Lim side by side as principal sponsors during the wedding of Beatrice Borja and Israeli expatriate Yuri Ofek at Shangri-La’s Mactan Island Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on June 25.
“If you’ll look at it, my client and our beloved President are kumpare,” Fuentes told the media.
Aside from Duterte and Lim, former Senator Manny Villar and his wife, Senator Cynthia Villar, were also principal sponsors at the event. Their son, Mark, has been appointed by Duterte as the secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
Borja, the bride, is the only child of Fernando Borja, the owner of Adnama Group of Companies which is involved in mining, real estate, exporting products and other businesses. He is a close friend of Duterte and supported his election campaign, according to reports.

Fuentes added that Lim had no plans to meet Duterte in order to clear his name and would rather submit a letter to the President to explain the confusion.
“The Peter Lim of Cebu is a very shy person. I don’t think he has the gall to ask the President for a meeting. Sending the President a letter is an option. But the decision shall come from him (Lim),” Fuentes explained.
However, reports say that Lim changed his mind and flew to Davao City to meet with Duterte about the allegations. Duterte has vowed to reveal soon the names of all the government and police officials with alleged ties to illegal drugs. - Kami Media
