The rebooted singing contest ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ (TNT) is one of the more popular segments of noontime musical variety show, ‘It’s Showtime’ with new talents surprising the viewers and judges daily. This weekend, the show announced that its impressive list of judges will grow even bigger with the addition of the Philippines Queen of Soul, Jaya.
Jaya used to be an ABS-CBN talent as one of the main hosts of ‘ASAP’ when the show started in 1995. She then transferred to rival network GMA and has been a mainstay in ‘SOP’ from 2000 to 2010, ‘Party Pilipinas’ from 2010-2013, and ‘Sunday All Stars’ from 2013-2015. She also dabbled into acting in GMA’s remake ‘Marimar’ and just recently in family oriented soap ‘Poor Señorita’.
Prior to her appearance on today’s episode of TNT, ABS-CBN sent out teasers through the TNT Twitter page saying that, “Ihanda na ang mga kabayo sa kwadra, mga kawal magbigay pugay dahil papasok na ang reyna! #ShowtimeHurraySaturday.”

Jaya was welcomed with open arms when TNT opened today and she can’t help but feel excited about this new development in her career.
“This all happens so fast. Gusto kong magpasalamat sa It’s Showtime [I want to thank It’s Showtime] for including me. I’m just so excited to be here on ABS-CBN. I’m excited to start my new life here,” Jaya said.
The Queen of Soul performed her hits such as ‘Wala Na Bang Pag-Ibig’, ‘Dahil Tanging Ikaw’, and ‘Ikaw Lamang’.
As a Quarter Three hurado, Jaya will appear on the show as a weekly judge and will share her knowledge and hone the talent of potential singing superstars.
TNT’s roster of judges is headed by OPM legend and hitmaker Rey Valera and The Maestro Louie Ocampo.
The other judges include ‘Pop Rock Superstar’ Yeng Constantino, ‘Bipolar Diva’ K Brosas, ‘The Star Maker’ Edgar Mortiz, ‘The Total Entertainer’ Rico J. Puno, ‘Queen Mother’ Karla Estrada, ‘1 Voice of the Philippines Grand Champion’ Mitoy Yonting, ‘Acoustic King’ Nyoy Volante, ‘Queen of R&B’ Kyla, and ‘King of Theme Songs’ Erik Santos.

Jaya is the daughter of comedienne and singer Elizabeth Ramsey. She briefly went on a hiatus from showbiz when her mom passed away October of last year.
