George W. Bush is in the limelight again. The ex-president’s poor behavior during the memorial service for the five police officers killed Dallas shootings raised many eyebrows. He started merrily dancing to the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” at the event.
It began quietly with the 70 year old ex-president standing holding hands with his wife, Michelle Obama, Barack Obama and many other influential figures. But all of a sudden, he starts dancing to the rhythm of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”.
The first reaction of the Obama couple and his wife seem embarrassed, but soon even the president can’t contain his laughter. George Bush’s swinging arms involuntarily dragged the first lady into his jolly dance as well!
The video instantly went viral and caused resentment among Americans: they called the ex-president for his disrespect towards the dead officers. Some even came to the conclusion that he was drunk!
Currently, there is no official commentary on the ex-president's behaviour.
But George Bush finished with a touching speech that he was praised for
"At times it feels like the forces pulling us apart are stronger than the forces binding us together. Argument turn too easily into animosity," Mr Bush said.
"We do not want the unity of grief nor do we want the unity of fear. We want the unity of hope, affection and high purpose."
