Suspected Abu Sayyaf group in Indanan, Sulu killed three Marine soldiers on Thursday.
According to a regional military spokesman, the incident happened on the morning of July 14.
Major Filemon Tan Jr., the spokesperson of the Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command, stated that three personnel of the Field Artillery Battalion attached to the Marine Battalion Landing Team-10 (MBLT-10) were gunned down by the alleged bandit group.
Tan shared that the three marines were buying provisions in the area when the incident occurred.
“Reports from ground units disclosed the three soldiers were procuring provisions in Barangay Manilop, Indanan, when they were waylaid and shot by the suspects,” he said.
Based on initial reports, the shooting transpired around 8 am at Barangay Manilop in the said province.

The persons of interest had already escaped before troops from the MBL-10 finally reached the crime scene.
In the meantime, the recovered bodies of the slain soldiers were immediately sent by the troops to Camp General Teodulfo Bautista in Barangay Busbus, Jolo.
