- Candace Payne became famous after posting the most viewed live video on Facebook
- Payne, also known as “Chewbacca Mom”, posted another video of herself singing “Heal the World” after the Dallas shooting
-Some appreciated Candace’s cover while some were sarcastic and even angry at her attempt at spreading peace and joy
While Korean Star Psy’s “Gangnam Style” music video is still the most viewed on Youtube, Facebook’s most watched live video is by a mom from Texas with her Chewbacca mask. More than 100 million views later, she’s now under a controversy for another video.
While sitting inside her car, Candace Payne live streamed a video of her unboxing the Chewbacca mask she bought for herself. It’s a normal video of someone trying out her new purchase but her contagious joy clearly attracts the attention as she trended.
After getting so much attention, Payne decided to release a video once again as an opportunity to step issues involving racism, gun abuse and police killings. This is in relation with the Dallas shooting incident in which five policemen were gunned down.
Payn or now most famously known as “Chewbacca Mom” posted a video of her singing “Heal the World”. Her 4 minute and 50 second video started with Candace saying that her home is just 30 minutes away from where the Dallas shooting happened and that she just wanted to spread joy after a painful incident. Then, she started singing her own arrangement of Michael Jackson’s famous hit.
The video now has 4.6 million views and trended on social media but instead of getting the previous reception, some people are not so happy about her cover.
The sarcastic remarks started pouring and according to them, her video is unnecessary and some even saw this as Chewbacca Mom taking advantage of an unfortunate incident since this is not her first attempt to extend her fame.
Payne refused to comment on her critics and said that her video says it all.
