US News: Maine Mendoza, Like JLaw, is underpaid

Maine Mendoza is the Jennifer Lawrence of the Philippines - beautiful, talented, and sadly underpaid, said Morning News USA.

Morning News USA made the comparison between Maine Mendoza and Jennifer Lawrence after the Inquirer reported on the salary difference between Maine and her onscreen love interest, Alden Richards.

The Inquirer, who cited anonymous sources, said that Alden earns roughly Php5 million while Maine earns Php1.5 million as their standard rates for making commercial endorsements.

Alden and Maine, popularly known as "Aldub," have appeared in a string of over 41 commercial endorsements in different forms of media.

Aldub's combined earnings were estimated to be around Php200 million in the 7 months since the couple reached record breaking popularity.

"Why Do I Make Less Than My Male Co-Stars?"

In an opinion piece published in Lena Dunham's online newsletter, Jennifer Lawrence said that she often policed herself not to sound difficult or spoiled, oblivious of how her male co-stars were not governed by the same standards.

"At the time, that seemed like a fine idea, until I saw the payroll on the Internet and realized every man I was working with definitely didn't worry about being 'difficult' or 'spoiled."

Jennifer Lawrence, who starred as Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games series, noted the difference between her and her male co-stars in bargaining for a treatment that should be objectively the same.

"If anything, I'm sure they were commended for being fierce and tactical, while I was busy worrying about coming across as a brat and not getting my fair share.
