- Last May, it has been speculated that PBB alumni Melai Cantiveros-Francisco and Jason Francisco have separated after being married for three years
- Cantiveros shut down the rumors via social media and admitted to having marital woes
- The actress/comedienne stated that these problems were normal, and was willing to do everything to save her marriage
Melai Cantiveros-Francisco, 'Pinoy Big Brother' (PBB) 2009 Big Winner and 'Your Face Sounds Familiar' Season 1 grand champion, has spoken up about not having a perfect relationship with husband and fellow PBB 2009 Housemate, Jason Francisco. Cantiveros and Francisco, both 28, married in December 2013 after their romance developed during their 2009 PBB stint. The couple has a daughter, two-year-old Amelia Lucille, who was born in Cantiveros' hometown in General Santos City.
According to the versatile actress and comedienne, it was only normal for couples to argue and to have problems. She went on to say that on her end, she was willing to do what she could to save her marriage.
The comedienne was quoted as saying, “Wala namang perfect na relasyon. Pagdadaanan niyo talaga yung mga ganyang bagay. Mangingibabaw pa rin ang pagmamahalan niyo. Imposible kasi sa isang relasyon na walang away. Kapag naging okay kayo, doon niyo mate-test na talagang mahal na mahal niyo ang isa’t isa kasi despite sa mga nangyari.”
(There is no perfect relationship. You will really go through difficulties and such. But your love for each other will still prevail. It is impossible for a relationship to not have disagreements. When you work things out, that’s when you will be able to test how much you really love each other despite what happens.)

Rumors of her separating with her husband have sprung up in May of this year, but the couple has shut down the rumors via social media, declaring that their relationship is stronger than ever. Cantiveros also identified her family as her topmost priority, adding that she has learned to balance her time between work and family. On her marriage, she said she will not let anything happen that would cause for her and her husband to be separated.
She quips, “Kung aabot sa ganun, hindi puwede kasi asawa ko siya. No way. Talagang isi-stick ko ang sarili ko no matter what happens kasi nga sumumpa ako sa Panginoon at mahal na mahal ko naman ang pamilya ko. Walang makakatibag sa amin.”
(If it would come to that, I won’t let it happen because he is my husband. No way. I will really stick to the relationship no matter what happens because I vowed before God, and also because I really, really love my family. No one can bring us down.)
