-Russian figure skater, Evgeniya Medvedeva, became a sensation in Japan after performing as Sailor Moon
In June Russian figure skater, world champion and champion of Europe in solo skating Evgeniya Medvedeva performed on the Japanese ice-show “Dreams on Ice 201”. For her demonstration performance, she chose to skate as iconic anime character “Sailor Moon”
After the show, Medvedeva met up with the author the manga Naoki Takeuchi.
Soon Medvedeva’s performance went viral in Japan. She was in the spotlight of the Japanese media, and also garnered a lot of support from her Japanese fans on her personal Instagram profile.
She became popular in Japan this Spring, when she won a gold medal at the championships in Boston. The ice skater read a poem from “Sailor Moon” in Japanese which drove Japanese fans mad from glee.
Medvedeva is known for her love towards Japanese culture and she often posts images and presents from her Japanese fans on her Instagram and Facebook accounts.
