Ricky Davao shares how she dealt with daughter's sexuality

- Actor Ricky Davao's eldest daughter, Rikki Mae came out to him as a lesbian

- Davao shared how she accepted her daughter's choice, and would even be supportive of her endeavors

- Rikki Mae's mother actress Jackie Lou Blanco also said that she would love her regardless of sexuality

Veteran Filipino actor and director Ricky Davao confessed that he was taken aback when his daughter, Rikki Mae Davao, admitted to being a lesbian, but also said that he was not angry about the admission.

Davao, in an effort to relate with parents who may be going through the same, shared his sentiments in an episode of the talk show ‘Tonight with Boy Abunda’ last July 8.

“Hindi ako nagalit pero nagulat ako,” acknowledged Davao in the said interview. Davao, continues to be supportive of his daughter Rikki Mae, saying that he respects and loves his daughter, whatever her decision may be.

The actor also shared that he's actually getting closer to his daughter after the revelation. “Actually nagtatanong pa nga ako sa kanya ng mga bagay bagay. Iba ang pananaw ng mga millennials ngayon. I’m learning from them," said Davao.

(Actually, I even ask her [Rikki Mae] about things. Millenials have a different perspective, I'm learning from them.)

Rikki Mae is Davao’s eldest daughter and second child with actress and fitness advocate Jackie Lou Blanco.

Reports on Rikki Mae’s revelation came out September of last year. Her mom, Blanco acknowledged her coming out saying, “I cried, not because I did not accept her… My feelings for my daughter never changed when she came out. At the end of the day, being a parent is really all about love.”

The actress even added that as long as a parent raised his or her children in the right way, then their upbringing should not change or waver, regardless if they choose to be gay. -KJ, Kami Media
