From "Love Local" to New York City!
Local brand Bench is gearing up to go global, starting off by putting Philippine fashion on the spotlight at the New York Fashion Show in New York City on July 11, Monday.
What started out as a dream for Bench founder Ben Chan is now just a few days away from fruition.
Inspired by the colors and elements of island living, twenty looks from Bench Body's collection will be presented in an edgy tableau.
"The models will be arranged like a live editorial tableau while the audience is free to move around, like they're watching an exhibit," said Noel Manapat, Bench stylist and creative assistant.
The summer-spring collections's theme is "Forever Summer"
"I wanted the models to be like modern nomads - seeking new destinations and experiences and, along the way, picking interesting things from around the world and, in particular, from our side of the world," added Manapat.
The New York show, however, will be completely different from the theatrical style of Bench's Manila shows.
Manapat said there will be no drama, just modern and sexy fun.

Bench partnered with Cadet for its New York ramp. Cadet was mentored and nurtured by Anna Wintour, the most influential woman in fashion.
"We sent Cadet our spring-summer 2017 mood board, and in return, Cadet designed a 12-piece capsule collection to complement the Bench Body spring-summer 2017 theme," said Manapat.
This partnership with the Brooklyn-based label is a step in the Filipino brand's aim to go global.
Models for the New York show will be all-male and would come from the US and Europe. But Ariel Lozada, the show's director, teased that there will be two female guest models and they are both Filipinos.
As to who these surprise female guest models are, we'll all have to wait until the show itself!
