-Former Sexbomb member Sugar Mercado pleads help against her husband and her husband’s family in her Facebook post
-Mercado claims that her husband and his family abused her not only physically but emotionally
-Sugar’s case was dismissed and she might end up going to jail with her mother for child abuse
Sugar Mercado, a former member of the popular female group, shocked netizens on Facebook as she calls for help against her husband and her husband’s family.
Mercado used to be one of the hosts of the popular GMA noontime variety show, Eat Bulaga. She has not been active in the entertainment industry lately and was quiet until her video has gone viral.
Sugar Mercado filed a protection order against her husband, Kristoffer Jay Go, in the Quezon City Regional Trial Court. She accuses Go of the violation of Republic Act 9263 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Act.
According to Mercado, her husband has been abusing her not only physically but emotionally several times since 2010. She also stated the direct and indirect involvement of Go’s parents in those abuse.
Gabriela Partylist has been helping her in this fight as the former dancer recalls receiving multiple threats against her life. She was accompanied by her legal counsel from Gabriela Women’s Party, Atty. Minerva Lopez.
A 2 minute video of Mercado is circulating social media right now as she cries for help on the decision regarding her case. Aside from the video, she explained her situation on two different posts in her Facebook account.
According to Sugar, the original resolution made by Fiscal Lagasca is to dismiss the child abuse case against her and to file 5 cases against her husband. It was snubbed and instead she might end up going to jail together with her mother for child abuse. The case she filed against the violation of RA 9263 was also dismissed. Despite all, she assured people that she’s not afraid and would face all cases against her.
In the next post, she denied abusing her children and cries for injustice as she is expected to pay P160,000 to stay out of jail. The lengthy post describes Sugar’s call for help in proving her innocence.
