- Dick Israel has emotionally thanked the public for their continuous support for him and his family
- The veteran actor expressed his need for a new pair of glasses after losing his old one
- Damay Kamay, an organization made and composed of celebrities, started a fundraising campaign to help the actor
Dick Israel, who is known for playing villains in local action films, appeared on television and social media this week not because of a recurring role but presented a tragedy when a fire destroyed his house in Caloocan last Saturday.
In addition to losing everything, the actor also has not fully recovered from his stroke. As soon as the news reached the actor's friends and colleagues, may it be inside or outside showbiz, continuous support both emotionally and financially poured in for him. Israel could not help but be emotional while thanking them during his interview with DZMM last Wednesday.
He also informed people who sent their concern for the actor that he is now staying at a hotel with his family.
According to Israel, he at least managed to grab and save his acting trophy which he got from his own movie 'Patrolman' which happens to be his all-time favorite film. His glasses, however, are another issue because the actor expressed his need for one when he lost his old one during the fire.
The veteran actor was a common face during the golden era of Philippine action movies. He was awarded as a Best Supporting Actor twice during his prime: one is from the FAMAS Awards in 1995 for his role in 'Kanto Boy 2: Anak ni Totoy Guapo' and the other is for his portrayal in 'Patrolman' given to him by the Metro Manila Film Festival in 1988.
Damay Kamay, which is an organization formed by artists in order to lend a helping hand to other colleagues in the entertainment industry, has started a fundraising campaign to help the actor get back on his feet.
