The teaser for the much awaited Star Wars spin-off Rogue One has just been released online.
Written as a prequel, Rogue One tells the story of rebel spies scheming to steal the plan for the Galactic Empire's new weapon, the Death Star.
"This is a rebellion, isn't it? I rebel," said Jyn Erso, the main protagonist who is played by Oscar-nominated Felicity Jones.
Ben Mendelsohn, dressed in an all-white uniform, plays the role of the unnamed villain.
The teaser leaves much to the audience's imagination, leading only with what everybody already knew, i.e., it was a heist film set in the Star Wars universe, with little to no jedi presence.
However, the it ends with question that no rebel would ever want to answer: what happens when they get caught?
It seems the choice of words suggests that capture is inevitable.
Among others, the film also features Mads Mikkelsen, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna and Oscar winning actor Forest Whitaker.
Fans of the saga would recall Princess Leia handing over the plan to R2-D2, which set the series of events that eventually led Luke Skywalker in destroying the Death Star.
Rogue One is part of the Star Wars Anthology Series, which comprises of standalone films including an untitled Han Solo movie in 2018.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla), the movie is set to be released on December 16.
