- Actress, TV host Jennylyn Mercado still remains to be a Kapuso after signing a ‘long-term contract’ with GMA Network on July 4
- She denied rumors about big offers by other network stations for her to consider transferring
- The award-winning actress said GMA is her home
Negotiations about her new contract reached one and a half month. This is because of the alleged new stipulations that Jennylyn’s camp wanted to add to the old contract with the station which ended last May of this year.
When asked why it took so long for both parties to reach an agreement, Jennylyn said for her, it was actually not that long. According to the actress, there are just so many things she has on her plate lately that caused the slight delay.
She also cited the busy schedule of the GMA executives and as a result, their schedule couldn’t meet.
Jennylyn was asked regarding the new conditions or stipulations in the new contract, one which she refused to disclose due to personal reasons.
“Siyempre, personal yun. Hindi naman namin puwedeng sabihin.” she said.
(Of course, it is personal. We cannot disclose it.)
Some of the GMA executives appeared with Jennylyn in her presscon to show support for her stay in the station.
With her are GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable, GMA Vice President for Entertainment TV Marivin T. Arayata, GMA Films President Annette M. Gozon, GMA Vice President for Drama Redgie A. Magno, GMA Assistant Vice President for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, GMA Assistant Vice President for Entertainment TV Darling de Jesus, GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi S. Lara, GMA Vice President for Corporate Affairs and Communications Angela Javier-Cruz, and the program managers Charles Koo at Cathy Perez.
Even before her contract with GMA is successfully renewed, rumors are spreading about the big offer by ABS-CBN, and the delay of the renewal of the contract was due to Jen exploring the possibilities in the other station, a fact that Jennylyn immediately denied.
Jen was also surprised about the new title given to her by GMA – ‘The Ultimate Star’
She admitted, she isn’t comfortable yet about being called with a title, but thanked everyone for the privilege and promised to meet people’s expectations of her.
“At masarap yung pakiramdam,” she said.
(And it feels good.)
Despite the rumors about her transferring to the other network, she still remains in the station which discovered her and her talents.
