Bato restricts cops' whereabouts

- New PNP chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa has prohibited cops from golfing during office hours.

- Dela Rosa also ordered the entire police force never to go to casinos and cockfighting venues.

- “Bato” promises to dish out heavy punishment to cops who will disobey his orders.

Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa has ordered the entire police force – including senior officers and regional directors – to refrain from going to golf courses during office hours.

"Pasensya na yung mga golfers diyan. Magalit na kayo kung magalit basta magtrabaho muna tayo. Mamaya na yung golf. During office hours, walang magkita diyan sa golf course,” Dela Rosa said.

(I apologize to the golfers in the police force. You can get angry with me but we must work first.  Golfing can be done later. During office hours, no policeman should be on a golf course.)

Aside from golfing during office hours, the new PNP chief handpicked by President Rodrigo Duterte has also ordered his men never to go to casinos and cockfighting venues. Those who will be caught disobeying these orders will receive punishment from Dela Rosa.

“Ipagbabawal ko na ang pagpunta ng kapulisan sa mga sugalan, sa mga sabungan, sa mga casino. Pag meron ako makita pulis natin nasa sabungan o nasa casino, malilintikan kayo sa akin,” the PNP chief said.

(I am prohibiting the members of the police force from going to gambling places, cockfighting venues and casinos. If I see a cop in those places, you will have to face my wrath.)

Dela Rosa also revealed his plans of sending cops involved in illegal drugs to Sulu and Tawi-Tawi to fight terror groups like the Abu Sayyaf.

He also explained that the nine cops who failed the surprise drug testing on Friday will undergo more tests to confirm their drug use and if they fail those additional tests, the PNP chief will have to fire them right away.

“Our policy is zero-tolerance. They will be removed from the service and I will make sure that it will be fast,” Dela Rosa said. -
