- Yesterday, Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa formally assumed office as the newly-appointed chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP)
- President Rodrigo Duterte gave the police a stern warning to not perform abuses
- Bato, in turn, cautioned the police, especially those who protect drug lords, to surrender in 2 days or else, they die
New Philippine National Police Chief Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa gave his word to police generals who protect drug lords, saying their days are numbered.
“We will be relentless in our internal cleansing efforts, we have to eliminate the scallywags from within our ranks, kayong mga kotong, abusado, tamad at sinidakatong pulis, bilang na ang mga araw niyo,” Dela Rosa said in his first speech as chief of PNP.
(We will be relentless in our internal cleansing efforts, we have to eliminate the scallywags from within our ranks, you who are corrupt, abusive, lazy, and involved in syndicates, your days are already numbered.)

“Lalo na kayong mga pulis dito sa Metro Manila na pinagmamayabang pa ninyo na kayo ang mga ninja, na kayo ang taga recycle ng shabu, I am giving you 48 hours to voluntarily surrender to me at sabihin niyo sa akin lahat. Otherwise, mag-AWOL na lang kayo at mag full-time drug lord na lang at makipag-gyera na lang kayo sa amin,” the new chief added.
(Especialy the police here in Metro Manila who brag about being ninja, that you recycle shabu, I am giving you 48 hours to voluntarily surrender to me and tell me everything. Otherwise, just go AWOL, work as full-time drug lords, and battle in this war against us.)
Dela Rosa, who said that he will do his best and not fail President Duterte, seemed to sound like the latter when he warned the police, “I am telling you this, this has to stop right now. Or I’ll stop you from enjoying your life, I promise you change is coming including your birthday, which will be changed to November 2.”
