Aquino Welcomes Monaco Prince Albert II To Malacanang
President Benigno Aquino III welcomed Prince Albert II, the Sovereign Prince of Monaco, to the Malacanang today. Prince Albert is in the country for a two-day official vist.
The prince signed the Malacanang Guest Book in front of President Aquino.
He wrote: "My sincere thanks to President Benigno Aquino and the Philippine authorities for their warm welcome and marks of friendship... I am convinced that our fruitful exchanges will lead to strengthening the ties between our two countries. We have the same vision for future generations based on sustainable development and the preservation of our planet."
The purpose of the official visit of Prince Albert is for bilateral talks aimed at increasing economic cooperation and also issues where both countries have a shared interest.
The President will hold a luncheon for the prince's honor.
The prince will also visit Palawan and Tubbataha Reef, a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site before he ends his two day visit.
The prince laid a wreath at the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal as part of his visit. He was accompanied by Mayor Joseph Estrada.
The prince and Estrada have also met before when Estrada was still president.
