- According to Robredo, staying humble and not engaging in petty fights are the best ways to deal with detractors
- Robredo also encouraged her supporters to visit her Quezon City office so that she can thank them in person
Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo gave some pieces of advice for her supporters when dealing with critics, bashers and detractors who want to pull her down.
According to the newly sworn-in vice president, her supporters should stay humble and not engage in fights with her detractors.
“Maraming masamang nangyari noong eleksyon. Pero magpakumbaba tayo. Huwag tayong makipag-away. Matitira sa dulo ang kabutihan lang,” Robredo told her supporters at the Quezon City Memorial Circle on Thursday evening after her oath-taking in the morning.
(Plenty of bad things happened during the election. But we must humble ourselves. Let us not fight with others. What should be left at the end is goodness.)
The 14th Vice President of the Philippines also met her supporters to thank them for their support despite the constant criticisms and allegations from rival camps, especially from the camp of defeated vice president candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Marcos has asked the Supreme Court to prevent the proclamation of Robredo as the new Vice President on allegations of electoral cheating but to no avail. Robredo defeated Marcos in the May 9 vice presidential election by some 260,000 votes.
As for her supporters who were not able to attend her inauguration, she encouraged them to visit her Quezon City Reception House office in order to thank them personally.
“Sana bisitahin niyo ako sa aking opisina. Para ‘yung mga hindi ko pa nakikita sa personal, mapasalamatan ko kayo nang tama,” the vice president said.
(I hope you will visit me in my office. So that I can express my gratitude properly to those I have not yet met personally.) -
