Get HIV tested - Pia Wurtzbach

- Pia reminded the public to get tested for HIV

- This has been her advocacy as the reigning Miss Universe which she is very vocal about

- Last Monday was also known as the National HIV Testing Day

The Pinay beauty queen posted a video statement on her Instagram account reminding her 2.5 million followers and everyone all over the world to get tested for HIV.

This is to protect yourself and also to avoid other people at risk.

“One of eight people who have HIV doesn’t even know it yet, which means that these people do not receive the attention and care that they need and deserve to stay healthy and avoid risking others.” She said on the said video post.

She stressed that to have yourself tested is not only to protect yourself, but also the people you love.

Also on the video, she showed her trip to Apicha Community Health Center in New York City last week where she took Alere 4 generation HIV test.

“Start talking and stop the spread of HIV. Take that first step. Take control. Get tested. Know your status. The risk is not knowing.” she added.

Last December, during the 2015 Miss Universe, Wurtzbach mentioned her HIV advocacy in passing. Answering the standard question for the final three, Wurtzbach said that she would use her voice [as Miss Universe] to “influence the youth” and “raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness.” This answer made her bag the crown.
